Everyday after school, girls and boys come together on the field to play a sport that they love. Soccer is a way of life for many of the children at Monaco Middle School. Their passion for the sport is seen through their devotion to the Monaco Middle School boys and girls soccer team. This season, we had five wins, one loss, and three ties. The Boy's soccer team finished third in the league. Both teams ranged from 6th-8th grade students, all of whom maintained at least a C average. The students did so well that they made it into the soccer tournament, taking place Saturday, April 18th, 2015.
This past quarter, the soccer teams traveled to California to visit UCLA and their soccer program. The trip was for many the first time they had ever visited a college campus. Along with learning about the program, they were able to learn about campus life and various majors. This visit will hopefully inspire students to realize that something that is so important to their culture could play a part in advancing their education and changing the college going culture of their family.
